Here are a few of the many letters we've
received from people who've done the tour.

We had an amazing time there last night. It was so great six of our friends flew into New Orleans today and we told them they had to go. They are all going tonight. The night tour is amazing. The best thing we have done since being down here. Thank you so much for the fantastic time.

We had a great time!!! Will do it again the next time I am there!

Thank you, Eileen (Gerdine (Dufrene) Gilbert, Michael & Eileen Gerdine Amy Gilbert

Dear Cathy:

I wanted to drop you a note of thanks for sending me the airboat pictures. They certainly brought back vivid memories of the true highlight of our trip to Louisiana, Art's special airboat ride! Picture the same kooks on the airboat (with the exception of Art and Manny) all in tuxedos and you can imagine how my wedding went.

Thank you also for the short behavioral course on the soft shell crab. I now know more about soft shell crabs than anyone in these cornfields of Indianapolis and gleefully boast of my knowledge whenever dining on those succulent little beasts.

Please send my best to Art and Manny and we will certainly visit again on our next trip to New Orleans. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Fred Vaiana

Dear Arthur Cathy:

We just wanted to drop you a line to tell you how much we enjoyed our last visit (and the one before that).

The hospitality shown by your family was especially heartwarming. This was the first time I had eaten stone crab claws -- what a treat!

Your knowledge of the animals and ecology of Southern Louisiana is very impressive, and I am looking forward to bringing my two oldest children down for an unforgettable experience.

Please tell your son thanks for all the help . . .

My friends from Atlanta had the time of their lives and are already telling all their friends to come see you when they are in the New Orleans area.

You expressed an interest in learning about all the plants in your area -- the book Cathy had is the best one, we have a copy also.

The plant you had questions about is called STICKTIGHT (Bidens cernua). This could be Bidens laeus if the flowers stand straight up rather than "nod" or hand down. Look on page 190 of your book.

Thanks again for a wonderful time. Hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Steve Stroupe

Dear Arthur & Cathy,

Wanted to write to tell you how much our family & I enjoyed your swamp tour on the airboat, as well as your tour of your softshell crab facility. Pat & Michael enjoyed their tour so much, they are still talking about it a week afterwards! Even though their week here was full of other activities, your swamp tour was the highlight of their week in Louisiana!

Arthur, your tour was fun, as well as very educational. Even though I've spent most of my life in Louisiana, I learned so much I didn't know before. I used to spend a great deal of time walking through swamp when I worked with a surveying crew, so the swamp held no special appeal to me . . . until your tour! Your tour gave me a new appreciation of resources in Louisiana I had previously taken for granted. I can only imagine the joy Pat & Michael felt, having never been through a swamp before. The wildlife . . . birds, nutrea, alligators . . . what a beautiful sight! Thank you so much for the extra nite tour . . . all of those red alligator eyes -- wow!

Arthur & Cathy, I want to especially thank you for the extra time you both spent visiting with us. As busy as you both were with the soft shell crabs, you still took the time to bring us through & explain the blue crab molting process. So very nice & patient of you.

Pat & Michael tell me you both were the nicest people they met down here in Louisiana. They've so right!

Thank you both for everything, see you soon!

Your friend,

Sam

Arthur and family,

I just wanted to write and say thank you to you and your family for making us feel so welcome at your home. We enjoyed the airboat tour, the crawfish served us, and the chance to see the way soft shell crabs are processed. We learned many things from you and your family. The tour was splendid and very interesting both during the evening and the night tour as well. We enjoyed our visit there, and although it was a very busy time for you and your family, everyone there went out of their way to show us a fantastic time. It was truly appreciated and will always be a great memory to us. Thank you again for everything and I will recommend it to anyone visiting Louisiana, because you all know how to show excellent hospitality.

Thank you

Pat Skaggs
